Windows 10 Privacy Settings You Must Address

Microsoft has just released version 1903 for the Windows operating system. The update includes several new features: the ransomware protection feature for Windows Defender, which is the built-in virus protection software for Windows 10.
However, users no longer need to worry about data protection with the latest protection features. To enable this feature, PC users must have Windows 10 version 1903 and a fast internet connection.
If the user is unsure which version of Windows 10 is installed on the device, the user can check it by accessing Windows Settings > System > About, then scroll down and select Version. If version 1903 is not already installed, check it via Windows Update and check if it is available.
Although the Windows 10 can be considered a secure operating system, you can enhance the privacy aspect more by adjusting some settings. You can do this even without installing any other third-party applications.
Adjusting Privacy Settings on Windows 10
Whenever you install fresh Windows 10, one thing you need to do is to turn the tracking features off. Turn all of them without missing a single one. This will guarantee your safety and privacy more.
Windows 10 has a few features that always reconnect to Microsoft. They’re not dangerous, but could be a bit annoying after sometimes. If you don’t want Microsoft to always keep track on you by giving you recommendations and stuff, turning them off could be a nice option.
The process can actually be done upon the first installment for Windows when everything can be adjusted at once. Of course, if you can’t reinstall it, you have to change each of them manually.
You can start by going to the Settings and then clicking on Personal. You will find all the items on the left side, along with the On/Off options on the right.
Enable Automatic Updates
Turning automatic updates is a must if you have Windows 10 installed. By turning this option on, you can always have the latest version of this operating system even without the need to check it manually.
You can go to Settings, and then navigate to Windows Update. Check the drop down button, and scroll until it shows Automatic.
You can also check an option for receiving the newest updates for Microsoft products, although it’s not completely mandatory. But, at least it could give you an idea about the security updates that are useful for your OS.
Activate Windows Defender
Windows Defender is actually the most optimal antivirus for Windows. If you have this, you don’t actually need to install any third-party antiviruses.
Check its status by navigating the Windows Defender, and turn everything on.
By default, Windows Defender already offers an outstanding job to protect your device, and it’s already there, which is excellent. Now, you can also add another layer of protection by having a VPN, one tool that can protect you when browsing the internet. You can review and protect your online privacy using PIA VPN, which is one of the top services out there. Now, you don’t have to be scared and worried about cybersecurity risks anymore.
Activate Windows Firewall
Windows Firewall is definitely useful as the main port for controlling communication access. It is already a compelling feature, especially with its default settings. Don’t change anything on this part, and make sure everything stays at their original position.
By default, Windows Firewall is turned on, ready to block any strange communications. Any incoming communications will enter the Firewall first, and will be checked about its authority. To see its status, you can navigate to Windows Firewall, and notice the color of the shield there.
If you notice a green shield, then Windows Firewall’s status is on. If turned off somehow, click it again to turn it on. You can, however, manually adjust each program. But, it’ll take much more time.
Use Lock Screen
If you want to keep your computer safe, you should ensure the screen locks automatically when you’re not around. One method you can do is to click Start, type lock screen, and select Lock screen settings.
Click Screen timeout settings and select the appropriate value that works for you. Also, be careful what apps you allow on the lock screen because other people will access that information without entering a password.
