Information security and privacy continue to grow in importance, as threats proliferate, privacy erodes, and attackers find new sources of value. Yet the security of information systems and the privacy offered by them depends on more than just technology. Each requires an understanding of the incentives and trade-offs inherent to the behavior of people and organizations. As society’s dependence on information technology has deepened, policy-makers have taken notice. Now more than ever, careful research is needed to characterize accurately threats and countermeasures, in both the public and private sectors.
The Workshop on the Economics of Information Security (WEIS) is the leading forum for interdisciplinary scholarship on information security and privacy, combining expertise from the fields of economics, social science, business, law, policy, and computer science. Prior workshops have explored the role of incentives between attackers and defenders of information systems, identified market failures surrounding Internet security, quantified risks of personal data disclosure, and assessed investments in cyber-defense. The 2018 workshop will build on past efforts using empirical and analytic tools not only to understand threats, but also to strengthen security and privacy through novel evaluations of available solutions.
The ICCRCPS 2018: 20th International Conference on Cybersecurity and Resilience of Cyber Physical Systems aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Cybersecurity and Resilience of Cyber Physical Systems. The IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN) has a distinctive approach to accidental and malicious faults under a common body of knowledge. Today, it is the most prestigious international forum for presenting advanced and innovative research results, problem solutions, practices, and insights on new challenges in the field of dependable and secure computing.
DSN is the flagship conference for research furthering robustness and resilience of today’s wide spectrum of computing systems. Indeed, dependability and security concerns can no longer be tackled in isolation, from general IT to the internet-of-things, cyber-physical systems and application areas.
Poor cyber security has affected all levels of society, may it be in the national, local, or personal level. In the digital world, nation states, terrorist groups, tasteless organizations and rouge individuals can launch cyber-attacks from anywhere, anytime, disrupting and damaging our democracy and way of life.
To confront this problem, awareness must be raised. At “Cybercon Asia”, our mission is to produce a multi-stakeholder consortium that brings together various industries. Including, but not limited to the government, the academe, and the corporate sphere all with the objective to raise interest and awareness about the state of cyber security on both domestic and international level.
Time to gear up and get ROOTCON 12 a kick-off, starting off with our first task the ROOTCON 12 theme.
Event themes will give us the feel and vibe on the conference each year, last year we had Humans meets IoT where we had a vibe of knowing the troubles and insecurities on IoT devices.
This year we thought of giving highlights on the hacker community and the culture it’s living, our theme will be Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution which is based from the novel written by Steven Levey, on his novel he discussed about hacker culture and that he thought hackers were fascinating people, adventurers, visionaries, risk-takers and artists rather than what most ordinary nowadays pictured the word “hackers”. The look n feel of this years theme will be carrying a Retro and 8-bit feel.
